Margret Rand

Hey there! 👋 My name is Margret Rand. Born and raised in Estonia, I began learning languages at an early age and it quickly became my passion – not only did I love the challenging intricacies of language learning but I also enjoyed the ability to understand and communicate with people from other cultures (whether that is in-person or through literature or visual media). This is also the reason why I became a translator – I am here to facilitate interlingual communication, so you can interact with others through sharing content in their language.

I began my translation career working as a junior and post-junior translator at a local agency after which I went freelance in 2022. My two specialisations, legal and marketing, allow me to perfectly combine my two sides – detail-orientedness and creativity.

I hold an MA in Translation from the University of Tartu (Estonia) where I specialised in English and French to Estonian and Estonian to English translation in the financial, legal, EU and research fields. If we look even further back in my education, I obtained my BA in Classical Studies with a minor in Sociology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). This experience didn’t only enrich my knowledge of Ancient Greek and Roman literature and history as well as the convolutions of today’s society but also immersed me in an English-speaking society.

In addition to my university education, I continue to professionally develop myself by attending conferences and taking courses. The following lists consist of the most career-relevant, informative and valuable events and courses in which I’ve participated.
